Beacon (“Beacon,” “we,” “us”) operates the car-search service at thanksbeacon.com. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We aim to collect as little as possible to run the service.
Information we collect
- Account information: your email address, and — if you create a password account — a securely hashed password. We never store your password in plain text.
- Searches and beacons: the car searches you run and the “beacon” watches you save, so we can show results and alert you to matches.
- Usage data: basic, privacy-respecting analytics about how the site is used (pages viewed, features used) to improve the product.
- Technical data: standard server and device information such as IP address and browser type, used for security and reliability.
How we use your information
- To run searches and deliver the results you request.
- To send you email alerts when a car matching one of your beacons is listed.
- To operate, secure, and improve the service.
- To communicate with you about your account or important service changes.
Email alerts & your choices
Beacon alert emails relate to beacons you set. Every alert email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can turn off all alert emails at any time with one click. You can also delete your beacons or request account deletion by contacting us.
Service providers
We share data only with the providers that help us run the service:
- Vercel — website hosting.
- Supabase — database hosting.
- Resend — sending email alerts.
- Anthropic — interpreting your natural-language search queries.
- MarketCheck, Auto.dev, and eBay — licensed vehicle listing data.
- PostHog — privacy-respecting product analytics.
We do not sell your personal information.
Data retention
We keep your account and beacon data while your account is active. You can ask us to delete your data at any time; we will do so unless we are required to keep it for legal reasons.
Your rights
